Councilmember Harrell at the Opening of Cultural Confluence

On January 13th, Councilmember Harrell took part in The Wing Luke Museum’s opening celebration of their new exhibit “Cultural Confluence: Urban People of Asian and Native American Heritages.”

Councilmember Harrell with Pat John, First Nations Tribe of British Columbia. It is customary in Indian Country to take responsibility when their community is hurting, and they are all hurting.  They conducted the cleansing ceremony in response to Councilmember Harrell’s remarks on participating in the John T. Williams inquest. (John T. Williams is commemorated in the exhibit, as he carved for years in the neighborhood, in Hing Hay Park.)

From the Seattle Native Circle team, a huge thanks to the Wing Luke Museum for their fantastic work and new exhibit. Be sure to check them out: http://www.wingluke.org/exhibitions/special.htm
