|A two day intensive teaching skills to create small, manageable, organic and heirloom vegetable gardens in raised beds, mounds or containers.
Participants will gain skills in: Creating garden designs; Soil testing (several types); Make our own organic fertilizer; Make our own simple worm bin; Make our own compost screen; Sheet composting technique; Using hand tools and small rototiller; Setting up and planting indoor heated seedbeds; Preparing potatoes and sunchokes for planting; Preparing and planting a spring seedbed; Making simple trellises and bean poles; Making simple hoop houses and cold frames; Garden and Farm visits.
*Participants will take home: Garden Designs; Compost worms; Organic fertilizer; Seed order; Seeds; Seeded pots; Lots of support literature; New knowledge and Friendships and more!
Our classroom will be at Snoqualmie Tribe Canoe Family building; We will also be working in two different gardens; The Pea Patch Garden at Snoqualmie Tribe Canoe Family Building; and Heidi’s Heirloom Garden at Historic Hjertoos House. We will also visit nearby farms.
