Tlingit and Haida Seattle Community Council is seeking a Youth Ambassador to join the elected delegates in attending the Tlingit and Haida Tribal Assembly in Juneau, Alaska April 13-16, 2011.
Applicants must be between the ages of 18-25 years of age, enrolled to Tlingit and Haida Central Council, registered to Seattle, able to travel to Juneau and willing to attend all sessions and events of the Tribal Assembly. The Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (Central Council) is a sovereign entity with a government-to-government relationship with the United States. It is made up elected delegates from Anchorage, San Francisco, Seattle and 18 Southeast Alaska communities (Angoon, Haines, Hoonah Hydaburg, Juneau, Kake, Kasaan, Ketchikan, Klawock, Klukwan, Metlakatla, Pelican, Petersburg, Saxman, Sitka, Skagway, Wrangell, Yakutat).
The elected delegates meet in Tribal Assembly in April of every year. The Seattle Community Council represents approximately 4,000 members living within a one hundred mile radius of Seattle. Elected delegates are:
