Hello, Native Circle! Longhouse Media would like to welcome you to summer! But before we get into that we’d like to let you know that our 6th Annual SuperFly Filmmaking Challenge went off without a hitch! Thanks to the talented Alaskan Native filmmaker Andrew Okpeaha MacLean, we had a great script that the youth turned into 4 great films screened at the Seattle International Film Festival. It was a long, hard process, but fun was had by all. Special thanks to all of the youth, mentors, volunteers, Suquamish Fisheries and Daybreak Star (United Indians of All Tribes Foundation) for allowing us to take over for a few days!
The next item on Longhouse Media’s calendar is to participate in the feature film, Winter in the Blood. Directed by brothers Alex and Andrew Smith and based on the book by James Welch, this project will hopefully begin filming in August. But we need your help to bring Welch’s classic novel of love, loss and survival to the big screen. A donation page has been created on Kickstarter.com, so please check it out and donate anything you can! There are only a few weeks left, so hurry!

Finally, we would like to share some exciting news. We have officially launched into our next feature film project called Clearwater. It will be the story of the relationship between the Coast Salish people of Puget Sound and their relationship to the water. The film will be an intriguing look into the beauty of the people and the region. More to come!
