Greetings, Native Circle!
We send you the warmest, happiest holiday wishes.
The past few months have brought many wonderful opportunities and experiences to Longhouse Media. We are honored to have produced a few short films for the National Congress of American Indians’ 68th Annual Convention, which was hosted in Portland, Oregon from October 30th to November 4th. NCAI joined hundreds of tribal leaders, tribal youth, political activists, and Native-led organizations together for leadership building and proactive community building tools for indigenous peoples across the globe. We at Longhouse Media had the pleasure of documenting the event and speaking to the many participants about their communities and how they are working toward social change. More recently, Longhouse Media had the privilege of attending Potlatch Fund’s 9th Annual Gala, which took place on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Grand Hyatt hotel in downtown Seattle. With 430 guest seats occupied and over $170,000 in generous contributions, the Potlatch Fund exceeded their goals by far and hosted a beautifully inspirational night. Aside from looking dapper and enjoying delicious salmon, Gala attendees viewed the Longhouse Media produced Leadership Awards 2011 short film, showcasing a few outstanding community members and their admirable efforts in community progress. New and upcoming is this year’s 2011 Native Youth Film Festival, Thursday, December 22nd 2011 at Nathan Hale High School’s Horticulture and Urban Farm. Longhouse Media is grateful to partner with the Urban American Indian Alaska Native Educational Alliance and Clearsky Youth Council for an afternoon of Native youth-produced films, a feature film, scrumptious food, and a community gathering for all.
