University of Washington President Michael Young is seeking individuals to serve on the President’s Minority Community Advisory Committee (MCAC). The MCAC is a fifteen-member committee whose mission is to advise and assist the Unive
rsity President concerning ways to attract and retain students, faculty, and staff of color and strengthen the connections of those individuals, and of the University itself, to their respective regional communities.
President Young is currently accepting applications and nominations for membership on the MCAC, with a deadline of January 15, 2013. To qualify for membership, individuals much have a strong interest and meaningful experience in working with issues important to communities of color and must demonstrate a commitment to the University of Washington. The term of membership on the MCAC is generally three years, although the initial terms of appointment will be staggered such that no more than one-third of the memberships expire in the same year.
The MCAC holds three regular meetings per academic year as well as special meetings as may be needed.
