A We R Native video was honored this month with a HEART Award for authenticity and humane treatment of a subject, by the Fresh Film Northwest winners program. The video was created by Courtney Hermann and students in the THRIVE Conference film-making track. The award winning video can be previewed on We R Native’s YouTube channel.

Adolescent Health Tribal Action Plan and Resolution Passed at October QBM
An Adolescent Health Tribal Action Plan was passed by Delegates at the October NPAIHB Quarterly Board Meeting! We hope your programs find the plan useful to support planning and outreach efforts. We encourage you to share the plan across agencies and programs (i.e. health and wellness, recreation, prevention, education, juvenile justice, social services, etc.) to support collaboration and service integration.Here at the Board we will be using the plan to guide our efforts to improve adolescent health throughout the NW tribes.

CDC STD Treatment Guide App
The CDC’s Division of STD Prevention is pleased to announce the launch of its STD Treatment (Tx) Guidelines mobile app. The app helps healthcare providers easily access diagnostic information and current STD Treatment Guidelines. Providers who use this app will have quick access to information about the diagnosis and treatment of 21 STDs and the useful booklet “A Guide to Taking a Sexual History.“?The app is available for both Apple and Android devices and can be downloaded for free from the iTunes and Google Play stores.? The Tribal HIV/STD Advocacy Kit & Policy Guide can be downloaded from the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board. We encourage tribal health advocates to use the Kit (and its accompanying PowerPoint slides) when meeting with tribal council members and other decision-makers, to help facilitate conversations about HIV/STD prevention.
