The Chief Seattle Club?s Board of Directors announces today that Jenine Grey is leaving her position as the Club?s Executive Director.? Ms. Grey worked at the Chief Seattle Club for the last 11 years – the last six of those as Executive Director.
During her time as Executive Director, Jenine oversaw the move into the Club?s first permanent home and the related expansion of programs.? Potlatch Fund awarded Jenine with the Pearl Capoeman emerging leadership award in 2008 and Sealaska recently acknowledged Jenine?s work at the Chief Seattle Club.? Board President Denise Stiffarm today said ?Ms. Grey helped implement significant improvements to the quality and quantity of services offered to our members.? The Board sends our heartfelt thanks to her for her dedication and service to the Club and its American Indian, Alaska Native, and First Nations members.?
The Chief Seattle Club works with American Indians, Alaska Natives, and First Nations people, many struggling to survive in the Seattle urban area.? The Mission of the Club is to provide a sacred space to nurture, affirm and renew the body and spirit of Urban Native peoples.
Having seen Chief Seattle Club through significant growth and change, Ms. Grey leaves the Club well-positioned for the future and feels ready to pursue new opportunities.? ?It has been a privilege serving the members of Chief Seattle Club these past 11 years? Ms. Grey said.? ?I?m gratified to have worked with the board, staff, and partners and to leave the Club on a sound setting for the future.?
Jenine will remain at the Club through?January 3rd?in order to assure an orderly transition.
The Board will begin searching for a new Executive Director.? In the interim, the Club?s existing staff will continue to manage and deliver key services to our members.?
