v The January 16 Western Washington Native American Education Consortium (WWNAEC) meeting will be held at Puyallup School District’s Educational Service Center, 302 2nd Street SE, Puyallup, 98372. If you also received a paper version of this list in the mail, the location was incorrectly listed as Kent.
v The Western Washington Native American Education Consortium’s (WWNAEAC) 2014 Educator Conference will be held at the Emerald Queen Events Center in Tacoma on February 27-28. Topics will include Indigenous Ways of Teaching, the “Since Time Immemorial” Tribal Sovereignty Curriculum, S.T.E.A.M. for Native Students, and Interagency Collaboration. A flier with more information and a registration are included in the events list.
v The Washington State Indian Education Association’s (WSIEA) 2014 Annual Conference will be held at the beautiful Northern Quest Resort Hotel in Airway Heights just outside of Spokane on April 9-11. A “save the date” is attached to the events list with additional conference and hotel information (final date for hotel reservations at the WSIEA block rate is March 7). The WSIEA Call to Conference/Registration, Call for Presenters, WSIEA award (including high school and higher education merit awards) nomination materials will be out shortly.
v A “Since Time Immemorial” Tribal Sovereignty in Washington State curriculum workshop is scheduled for March 28 at the Muckleshoot Tribal College in Auburn. More information and a registration form are attached to the events list. We are currently in the process of planning up to six more sovereignty curriculum trainings including two training of trainers tentatively starting in April and going through June, 2014. We will announce the final schedule soon.
